Statistics by lifecycle

The statistics by lifecycle report provides reports on user behavior according to the length of time passed since they first installed your application.  This is quite different from all other Pinch Analytics reports, which group activity by time period.  The day each user first uses your application is considered their 'day 0', the day after is considered their 'day 1', and so on.  So if one user first uses your application on January 1st and a second user installs your application on January 5th, the first user's January 1st data is combined with the second user's January 5th data to produce the 'day 0' report.  The first user's data from January 2nd and the second user's data from January 6th would be included in the 'day 1' report, and so on.

We've sorted the data in this way to help you understand your users' lifecycle as they use your application.  For instance, the unique users metric shows just what percentage of your users return to your application for any length of time after first installation.  The sessions metric will show you how overall number of application runs increases or decreases in the days and weeks after users install your applications.  The time-based metrics will show you if your users are using your application more or less after they install it.

We have included two new metrics on this report - probability of return and average number of days until return.  The probability of return metric looks at your usage patterns and tells you, for the users that use the application X days (or weeks) after installation, what's the percentage chance they'll return in the future.  The average number of days until return metric looks at your usage patterns and tells you, for the users that use the application X days (or weeks) after installation, how many days it'll be, on average, before you see those users again.

The statistics by lifecycle report is available by day ('day 0', 'day 1', etc.) and by week ('week 0', 'week 1', etc.)  Changing to the weekly report is as simple as clicking the weekly radio button at the top of the page.  The daily report includes data for 28 days worth of usage, while the weekly report includes data for up to two years worth of usage.  Note that the final column of each graph - the 28th day and 104th week - is based off of all data recorded after the 27th day or 103rd week, respectively.  Unique users returning will therefore be much higher, since it's based off a much longer timeframe.

Metrics on this report include unique users, sessions, crashes, time spent per user, time spent per session, sessions per user, probability of return and average number of days until return. Using the "show stats for:" dropdown at the top right corner of the chart will repopulate the chart with the selected metric.

Clicking on any day or week on the chart will show you a modular window with all the metrics for that day or week.
